National Honor Society Induction Ceremony 2017

West Central High School held their National Honor Society’s induction ceremony for three new members on March 20, 2017.

Zachary Vancil, Vice-president of the National Honor Society, welcomed students, relatives, and friends to the ceremony.

Mr. Nick Roark was the guest speaker for the evening. He has been a lifelong resident of Henderson County who recently retired from the district after dedicating thirty years of working and making a positive impact on the students of the districts of this county.  He has been married to his wife JoEllen for 39 years.  They are proud parent to two children and grandparents to three.  Mr. Roark is a strong example of what positive attitude and hard work can do.  He is a strong believer in discipline and respect, and has found those traits to be very important in his life.  Mr. Roark encouraged students to set goals and work toward them, and not to give up when things don't go perfectly.

The Induction Ceremony began with  NHS members Zachary Vancil, Madison Benge, Grace Brent, and Kamryn Endress reviewing the criteria required for membership: Character, Leadership, Service, and Scholarship.  All members then participated in the NHS Pledge. The Mission Statement of National Honor Society was presented by Zachary Vancil.  New and current members then reviewed the Seven Qualities of NHS.  Mrs. Paula Markey, West Central Superintendent provided the closing remarks.

A reception was held immediately following the induction ceremony with refreshments provided by the Family and Consumer Classes.  Mrs. Trish Alexander provided piano music throughout the evening.
