5th grade students from West Central attended Safety Day on September 20th. This annual event is held in Stronghurst and is sponsored by the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau. Students received education on may topics including how to stay safe online, the importance of wearing seatbelts, general first-aid, drug awareness, stranger danger, water, fire, animal, farm, railroad, and atv safety. The West Central Music Department has created a new performing group, the WCE Children's Choir, comprised of 3rd, 4th and 5th students. The group has reached an amazing 56 members and is off to a great start! We hope to perform the National Anthem at a number of sports events throughout the fall and winter seasons, perform our choral repertoire at the 3rd-5th grade concerts and at the combined middle and high school band and choir . . .

West Central 5th graders have been learning about the engineering process. They began with the problem solving stage of figuring out how to make a paper rocket that could be launched from the provided launcher and that would travel at least 90 feet.
