Each yeah Professor Mike Sostarecz from Monmouth College comes out to give a lecture to the calculus students on how to use Calculus to model real life. He spoke on modeling linear, and quadratic equations. He showed them how he uses a high speed camera to see a golf ball leaving the T, how to find the speed of a water bottle rocket, and how to model the curve of a roulette table off of a Sine wave. The students were very attentive and enjoyed his talk. When he was finished, he was asked for any tips to survive college. His response was to not slack off; once you do, it's very hard to make a come back. He went on to say that he made that mistake in his sophomore year, and wish he could go back in time.
