A Tree for Jace

On the afternoon of April 23, 2018 a memorial was held at the West Central Middle School in honor of Jace Garner.  Jace attended West Central Schools during most of his education.  During his seconday education he moved to Danville, IA where he attended high school.  Jace passed away on May 10, 2017.  Various staff members, Jace's friends and family attended the service.  Project 52 Inc. carried out the service, gave the story of how the organization started, explained how they have planted over 250 trees across multiple states for families that have lost loved ones. Kenna Armstrong worked with Project 52 to help make this memorial possible, a gesture of a great friend. All present were invited to help plant the tree.  A heartfelt dedication to Jace was given and ended with a prayer.

Mr. Helt, was one of Jace's teachers while he attended West Central Middle School, had these thoughts on Jace.  "Jace was an intelligent, funny, and kind-hearted young man. I enjoyed my time with him while I had him as an eighth grader and knew he had the potential to achieve great things.  During his time at the Middle School he served as the Student Council President and Scholastic Bowl co-captain.  He was very involved in his school, and continued to be after he moved to Danville.  Jace's grandmother told me that she figured the middle school kids wouldn't even know why the tree was there...but I assured her that as long as I'm teaching at the middle school the kids will know who he was."

Thank you to the administration for allowing them to plant the tree in Jace's memory
