Welcome to West Central High School
By Mr. Ben Rees
I am very excited to be starting my first year as the principal at West Central High School after serving last year as the Assistant Principal, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Prior to coming to WCHS, I taught Social Studies for 17 years, the last 13 at ROWVA High School in Oneida. On behalf of the entire staff, we would like to welcome you to West Central High School website. Our school serves approximately 270 students. WCHS offers many opportunities to excel in academics, sports, and the arts. I am very honored and privileged to be the Principal of such an outstanding school. We have access to class schedules for teachers under the faculty tab, and you can read the high school daily announcements from the webpage as well.
West Central’s excellent teaching staff and support personnel want to ensure that every child succeeds. Our goal is to support and encourage each child in achieving his/her optimum potential by instilling in them a sense of worth, curiosity and love for learning. If at any time situations arise that may impact your child’s success or focus at school, please communicate with your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, myself, or any other staff member. We are all here to support you and your student in the pursuit of excellence.
Being actively involved in your child’s education is essential in developing a strong partnership between home and school. Take time every day to connect and be present with your child. Talk to your child about what they are doing in school and help your child stay organized, committed and focused.
Our focus is on student achievement and readiness for college or career opportunity. Ongoing tutoring is available to help with skill deficits and extra support for class work, as well as enrichment opportunities. Our staff is well versed in collaboration and team teaching, which allows for better instruction that fits each student’s needs.
The West Central motto “Providing Opportunity Expecting Excellence” is not just words, but rather something students, teachers, and administrators live by every day. They form the foundation for everything we strive to accomplish and what we hold to be true. West Central is a school where everyone shares in the responsibility for the success of all students. We look forward to working with you and your student because we are all in this together.
Here’s to a strong year of teamwork, community building, and a commitment to do our best and be our best for each and every student at West Central.
