 PTC

Welcome to the West Central Elementary and Middle School PTC web page.  Our purpose is to encourage parents and teachers to work together to provide additional activities and materials for our West Central Students. The PTC sponsors several events as well as provides the funds for ‘extra’ activities above and beyond normal day to day items.

Summary of PTC Sponsored Activities/Events

Every year PTC donates $50 to each Pre-k and Elementary teacher to help with classroom expenses and as starter money for treasure box items.  They also donate a small lump sum of money to the Middle School to assist with incentives for the students.  On average, this totals an amount of approximately $3000 per year.

Around Christmas, the PTC surprised the teachers (and students) with a new treasure box with lots of new prizes for the kids.

Holiday Cheer! Santa visits West Central…  Every year just before the Christmas break, the PTC requests a visit from Santa. Santa usually starts out in the Pre-k building in Media.  From there, he makes his way to the Elementary school where he is greeted by many curious little ones.  Santa goes to each classroom of every grade to wish the students a Merry Christmas.  Of course, he always brings each child a candy cane to enjoy!  Sometimes, I wonder who enjoys this more, Santa or the Children!  Thanks Santa for bringing so much joy on this special day!  (Due to weather, school was cancelled this year and Santa didn’t get to make his rounds!)

PTC sponsored the Annual PTC Halloween Carnival.  This event has been a huge success over the past several years.  This is not a fundraising event.  This event is solely for the students and their families to come together, dressed in costumes of course, to enjoy an evening of fun. This years’ carnival was a great success.  The cost is only $5 per child for the entire afternoon. This will pay for the wristband to play all games (except cake walk) as many times as they’d like.  The income from this cost pays for the cost of the carnival.  The PTC rented a jumping balloon for the kids to enjoy.  The 4th grade class sponsored a cake walk.  The National Honor Society sponsored a very scary Haunted House.  The Art Club volunteered to do face painting.  The 5th grade class sponsored the BINGO in the art room.  There were approximately 16+ smaller games for all to enjoy. These games were run by volunteers from the school and community.  This carnival could not happen if it weren’t for these people.  We greatly appreciate all they help you give every year to make this event an enjoyable experience for all!

For the different school sponsored clubs, PTC did provide them with a small donation to their club for doing such an outstanding job!  This is a great opportunity for them to show off their talents.

Students sold raffle tickets for cash drawings. The grades competed for top sales. The Pre-K won and was provided a Pizza Party for the entire Pre-K.

New in 2009, West Central now participates in the Market Day food program.

On a monthly basis, we distribute the new Market Day food flyers. Everyone enters their orders on-line or returns their orders to the school and a chairperson enters them on-line. On the 3rd Thursday of the month, the delivery truck brings the products to the West Central Elementary school.  The teachers and volunteers help sort inventory and pick orders. Customers then pick up the orders from 4-5pm. We earn 10% from the orders as well as the company offers many individual discounts and options. All of the proceeds from this program go back into the classrooms.  We’ve purchased extra supplies such as construction paper for each of the teachers. This was a new program introduced at the end of the school year and we’ll continue this program throughout the next school year. Thanks again for all of the community support with this program!

PTC recognizes their appreciation for each teacher by delivering Subway Sandwiches and Cookies on Teacher Appreciation Day for the staff at the Pre-K building, Elementary building, and the Middle School Building.

Field Day at West Central scheduled for May 26thThe West Central P.E. teachers host a “Field Day” every year toward the last of the school year.  This is a huge event that every student participates in. PTC picks a T-shirt design and sells shirts for $7 each.  They each wear these shirts on Field Day.  It is so neat to walk up to the football field and see so many kids all in matching West Central shirts.  All proceeds from these shirts are put back into the field day program.  This year, we rented four blow-up items for the kids to enjoy as well as West Central water bottles. It is a very exciting a enjoyable day for all of the kids and since the kids work so hard the PTC donates popsicles for the students to enjoy during their breaks.  Every year, PTC brings approximately 900 popsicles to the Elementary and 400 to the Middle School.  These popsicles are for every child to enjoy.
