Illinois Student Assistance Commission Applauds the Success of Five High School Students
West Central High School Principal Scott Schneider is pleased to announce that five West Central High School students from the graduating class of 2016 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars.
This prestigious award is given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). This year, nearly 19,000 elite honorees join the other top state students honored for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958.
Illinois State Scholars possess strong academic potential and are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank. State scholars rank in approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors representing 652 high schools across the state.
This years’ West Central High School Illinois State Scholars are: Somer Hill, daughter of Tami Hainds of Oquawka and Robert Hill of Burlington, Iowa; Mallory Lafary daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Kathy Lafary of Smithshire; Dakota Parks, daughter of Julie Moreland of Carman; Hannah Parsons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron and Beth Parsons of Oquawka; and Audrey Vice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim and Cindy Vice of Oquawka.
While the recognition does not provide a monetary award, recipients are encouraged to cite the award in college applications and scholarships.
Congratulations to all of you!
