By Mrs. Stacey Day
Hello West Central!
I hope this note finds you doing well and enjoying summer! My name is Stacey Day and I'm excited to be the next Superintendent for the West Central School District. I completed my bachelors degree in mathematics at Illinois College and started my teaching career as a high school math teacher at Westmer School District in 2003. I continued as a high school math teacher at Mercer County High School after the consolidation in 2009. I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through Western Illinois University and became the high school principal at Mercer County High School in 2014. I recently completed my Superintendent's Licensure through Western Illinois University and I am honored to be selected as your next Superintendent.
Here's what I know about working in education, it's really hard and it's really great, all at the same time! The most important thing I've learned in my 19 years in education is that the relationships with staff, with students and with community members is what makes a school district great. My first goal as Superintendent is to spend time getting to know everyone, learning the routines, the traditions and what makes West Central GREAT!
The second biggest thing I've learned in education is that we won't always agree, but we ALL want what's best for our students and school. It takes all of us, working together, to have a successful school district and to grow successful students. If we work to keep our students and their needs and successes in the forefront of everything we do, then in the end - can't go wrong.
I am excited to get started and to meet everyone at West Central. Our custodians are working hard to get the buildings ready for a new school year and it won't be long until we are welcoming everyone back on campus. Please stop and say hello if you see me out and about at events this summer and at the start of the school year. I look forward to meeting all of you!
Enjoy the rest of your summer! See you soon!
Stacey Day
