In October by audition, three middle school students and three high school students were selected to attend the Illinois Music Educator Association's District 2 music festival on Saturday, November 12. Students actively rehearsed with selected directors in various locations at Augustana College beginning at 9am to end their day with an evening concert for the public. To be selected, students must prepare a number of pieces chosen by the ILMEA district and state representative(s). At the audition site, students are notified of the audition excerpts and perform those for a qualified judge, as well as perform a section of music at sight. Auditions are broken into point values and a single point difference can decide whether one is selected. We are proud of our six students and their accomplishments in both preparing for their auditions and participating in the festival on Saturday.
