WCMS students qualified and competed in the IESA state track meet on Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, 2018. As the most decorated returning athlete from the previous year, WCMS seventh grader Kaiden D. was chosen to give the Oath of Athletes before the competition began. Kaiden D. Oath
Eighth grader Ebony T. competed in the shot put and discus, breaking the school record in the discus with a throw of 83’8”. Eighth grader Breanne K. competed in the long jump, and had a personal best jump of 15’2.25”.
Seventh grader Kaiden D. finished first in the 100m dash, the 200m dash, the 400m dash, and the long jump. All four of his finishes broke the existing school records. Kaiden also set a new state record in the long jump when he jumped 19’9.5”. At the end of the day, when all the points were counted, Kaiden won the state 7A Boys Team Championship all by himself. West Central is very proud of all three of our student athletes and their accomplishments at the state track meet.
