Important Reminders - Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Return to In-Person Learning

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no in person attendance or remote learning on Monday, January 18. Last spring, West Central lit up our football field and used the theme, “Be the Light.”  This reminds me of a Martin Luther King Jr. quote, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." This last year has been tough, but I truly believe we are starting to see a light at the end of this tunnel.  We have made it through this past year because of the support, cooperation, and understanding of our students, their families, and our staff. For that we thank you so much!

We are very excited to be back in person beginning Tuesday, January 19. We will continue with a 12:15 p.m. dismissal each day. For those students who are not riding school provided transportation, please remember to certify your child via Skyward by 7:30 a.m. each morning.  If your child will be riding school provided transportation, please remember to complete the paper certification form.  If you do not have the form, your child’s bus driver will have extras.  Masks will still be required to be worn, so remember to send your child with their mask each morning. We will continue to serve breakfast and lunch in the same manner as before.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at (309) 627-2371.

With gratitude,

Paula Markey
Superintendent
