West Central School District 235

Receives $2,000 from Midwest Bank of Western Illinois

Chris Gavin, President of midwest Bank of Western Illinois announced that the bank has disbursed $2,000 to West Central School District 235.  The check represents the banks donation to the school district from its Chalk up Money for Schools program.  Since the program started West Central School District has received $8,400. Chalk up Money for School program started in 2007 and a grand total of $36,480 has been donated to various schools in Henderson, Knox, Mercer and Warren Counties.

Gavin stated, "The bank is well aware of the financial challenges each school district faces.  Our program, Chalk Up Money for Schools will assist them with special projects.  Midwest Bank is an integral partner in the communities we serve.  We believe educating students is one of the best ways to preserve a strong future and retain the values that our local communities represent."

The Chalk up Money for Schools program is a debit card rewards program where customers can support their favorite public or private school, grades K-12.  Each time they make a purchase using their Midwest Bank SHAZAM ChekCard, the bank will donate 1/10 of one percent of the purchase price to their favorite school.

Lori Austin, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Oquawka branch said; "To take advantage of the program they must be a Midwest Bank checking account customer and have a SHAZAM ChekCard. The SHAZAM ChekCard may be used anyplace that displays a VISA logo.  Each time the debit card is used, money will be earned for your favorite school.  People can use their SHAZAM ChekCard for groceries, gas, school clothes/supplies, or bill payments.  ATM transactions are not included in this program.  the more people use their debit card the more money the school will receive.  Plus, there is no cost to the customer and no cost to the school."

Linda Reaves, Personal Banking Officer at the Oquawka branch said:"If people would like to take advantage of the Chalk up Money for Schools program they need to complete an application form.  These forms are available at any Midwest Bank location."
