West Central Middle School Softball Sectional Champions!

Good afternoon,

First, I want to take a moment to congratulate our West Central Middle School girls’ softball team on their Sectional Championship win last Saturday!  They will now advance to state and play on Friday, September 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Champion Fields, 1850 Gregory Street in Normal.  The player’s bus and caravan will leave from West Central Middle School at approximately 11:30 a.m.  They will travel north on 94 and through the north campus bus lane, so we can give them a Heat sendoff.  They will then head toward Biggsville, turn north in Biggsville and go to the Rozetta junction.  From there, they will take 164 to Monmouth.  Please consider putting out signs and cheering on our team as they travel that route.

To allow West Central families the opportunity to travel to Normal to cheer on our softball team as they battle for the State Championship, West Central will dismiss school at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, September 24.  We are hoping to offer a fan bus for middle school students if we have chaperones and drivers available.  Any student who is interested should sign up in the middle school office should we be able to offer this opportunity. Student admission of those on the fan bus will be paid by the district. Students will need to bring meal and snack money.

Attached to the email you received is a map of the facility, the Class 1A bracket, as well information about using the GameChanger app to receive live scoring during the tournament. In addition, IESA has asked us to share the following:

1.    All attendees will be required to wear a face covering in indoor areas.  Additionally, all attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing in all seating and common areas.
2.    All attendees are expected to demonstrate appropriate and positive sportsmanship.  Arguing with/yelling at officials will not result in a changed call.
3.    Parking is permitted on the south end of the complex off Gregory Street. Parking is also available at  Normal Community West High School in the lots closest to Champion Fields.
4.    Ticket gates are located on the south and north side of the complex and fans will be able to enter beginning at 8:00 a.m.

these will not be permitted into the playing areas (By-Law 3.132). In addition, all noisemaking devices shall be excluded from playing areas (By-Law 3.133).

7.    State finals programs are available for purchase at the ticket gate for $5 from Royal Publishing.  We may be contacted by Royal Publishing, for possible advertising leads within our
