Below is a list of the current scholarships that I am aware of and that are currently live. More will be available as the year progresses. Stop by my office if you have questions.  Remember, scholarships are free money- you should not have to pay to apply. Each little bit helps: Apply, Apply, Apply!

 

Scholarships available to Illinois students:

 

--Mellinger Education Foundation Grant (Available 2/1-5/1)

Applicants eligible to apply for a Mellinger Scholarship must be an undergraduate student and live in one of the following counties: Warren, Henderson, Knox, Mercer, Fulton or McDonough. Apply online at: http://www.mellinger.org/index.php/application-tab

  

--North American Van Lines Logistics Scholarship (Deadline: 12/15/2018)

            Five lucky qualified entrants will each win a $1,000 scholarship towards their degree in logistics or supply chain management at the college or university of their choice.

--WIEC Western Illinois Electric Coop Scholarships (Deadline: 12/31/18)

Twelve IEC Memorial Scholarships Available for 2019:  Western Illinois Electrical Cooperative has announced that the Illinois electric cooperatives in 2019 will award eleven academic scholarships worth $2,000 each to high school seniors.  These memorial scholarships were designed to financially assist deserving students in the “electric cooperative family.” In addition, a twelfth scholarship will be offered to assist with costs in attending an electric line-worker school.  Six scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are the sons or daughters of an Illinois electric cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative.  A seventh scholarship, the Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship, will be awarded to a student who is the son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative employee or director.  Four additional scholarships are reserved for students enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the sons or daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members, employees or directors.  Another annual scholarship, the “LaVern and Nola McEntire Line-worker’s Scholarship,” will award a $2,000 scholarship that will help pay for costs to attend the line-worker’s school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, Ill.  Submit application on line at https://aiec.coop/iec-scholarship/scholarship-application-preparation

--PBA Lifetime Member Scholarship (Deadline: 3/31/2019)

Scholarships will be awarded to current PBA individual and student members to use towards continuing education or cosmetology school.

--SCC Foundation Scholarships- Scholarships available for all types of students. They can be based on merit, need, program of study, intended career path or county of residence, among others.  New or continuing SCC students are eligible to apply. The application must be completed online. They also require a completed FAFSA, high school transcript, and at least one reference letter. You just need to complete the application once. You will automatically be considered for all scholarships for which you meet all requirements.

--CSC Foundation Scholarships-

The Carl Sandburg College Scholarship Application for 2019-2020 opened on October 1, 2018 and will close on March 15, 2019.
To apply, go online to www.sandburg.edu  and login using mySandburg. Go to Student Apps and click on the Scholarship Application button.

 

--Illinois Agriculture Education Scholarships

--Greenhouse Scholars (Deadline:  December 17, 2018)
            Greenhouse scholars is looking for students who demonstrate leadership with their communities.  GPA must be 3.5 or higher - household income must be $70,000 or lower annually.

Most Valuable Student: The 2019 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen.

Legacy Awards- must be a child/grandchild of an active Elk member

Emergency Educational Grants: Emergency Educational Grants provide undergraduate college financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks in the form of renewable, one-year grants of up to $4,000. The grant is for educational assistance only and is not intended to cover the entire cost of a college education.

 

 

--Illinois Chemical Education Foundation (Deadline 2/22/2019)

            ICEF’s objective is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have exemplified outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment activities and community involvement. Must be planning on attending an Illinois school.

--Ada Mucklestone Memorial Scholarship (Deadline 3/1/2019)

            Must be the child, grandchild or great-grandchild of veteran/s who served in the U.S armed forces during WWI, WW II, Korea War, Vietnam War, Grenada & Lebanon, Panama Canal, or Persian Gulf. Must be a resident of IL. Not applicable for those pursuing Nursing.

--AXA achievement Scholarship (Deadline: 12/14/2018)

--Burger King Scholars Program (Deadline: 12/15/2018)

            The BURGER KINGâ„  Scholars program assists employees, employees' spouses or domestic partners, employees' children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education. To date, the program has awarded more than $35 million in scholarships to more than 33,000 students. Last year alone, $3.7 million in scholarships were awarded to more than 3,400 deserving students.

 

--Trinity Health Foundation (Deadline: January 2019)

Please start your application early so required documents and third party verification can be completed before submission deadlines. --Illinois PTA Scholarship (Deadline: 2/15/2019)

            must be a high school senior,GPA 3.0, Enrolling in a college or university in education or education-related degree program, which may include but not limited to: Librarians, Instructional Media Specialists, School Nurses, School Psychologists, or Social Workers (all of which require certification from a State Board of Education) https://illinoispta.org/scholarship/

 

--Warren/Henderson Farm Bureau (Deadline: 2/1/2019)

            Various Scholarships

Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship - The objective of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau® Foundation scholarship program is to provide financial assistance through scholarships to our members or their dependents who are entering or attending college and majoring in Agriculture or Agribusiness. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic ability and/or financial need and are to be used for tuition and/or books. Funds will be sent directly to the school that the student is attending. Applicant must be eligible/accepted for enrollment or be enrolled at an accredited college, university or community college that offers agricultural courses. --Worldclass Mediacom (Deadline: 2/15/2019)

            Children of directors, officers, employees or agents of Mediacom are not eligible. Applicants must be legal residents of a community that is being served by Mediacom (see list on pages 6-8). Scholarship awardees may attend any accredited two-year or four-year college, university, technical or vocational school within the United States. Applicants must intend to pursue a course of study at a qualified post-secondary institution. Applicants must be accepted by the qualified post-secondary institution prior to actually receiving a scholarship. Applicants must commence their post-secondary education or training in the first academic year following their senior year of high school. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school, must be high school graduates or persons who have achieved equivalent certification. If an applicant is awarded a scholarship while in his or her senior year of high school and does not graduate at the end of his or her senior year, he or she is no longer eligible to receive a scholarship. Students completing high school in fewer than the normal four years are eligible to apply. Students entering a qualified post-secondary institution in the middle of their senior high school year are permitted to apply the following year. All scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, political affiliation or social or economic status. Scholarships are not renewable. --Scottish Rite/ Illinois Masonic (Deadline: March 1)

            Illinois Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Masons provide scholarships to help individuals better themselves through the pursuit of knowledge. The application covers six scholarships: Health Career Fields & Sherwood and Evelyn Kresin (open to public), and Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Illinois, Robert B. Perkins, Louis L. Williams, Leon M. Abbott (must have masonic relationship)

--National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF): Dr. James Earl Kennamer Academic Scholarship Program (Deadline: Jan. 1)

            3.0 GPA minimum, students must support the preservation of the hunting tradition & actively participate *hunting license is required*, must be NWTF member, must be involved in school activities, be a leader, be involved in the community. Employees and board members of the NWTF & family members are not eligible to participate.

--Illinois State Historical Society’s Verna Ross Orndorff Scholarship (Deadline: Jan 11 2019)

            1,500 word essay on the subject of Abraham Lincoln or the Civil War era in Illinois required. 1,000 scholarship granted and paper will be published in an issue of Illinois Heritage Magazine.

            *American Patriot Scholarship: Eligible for students 24 years or younger, At least 1 parent served as active duty or reserve military personnel or killed in line of duty or got a permanent disability from their service. One-time award of $2,500 to selected applicants
Deadline to submit applications is 3/1

 

            *Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation:
            Children of at least one parent must:  Be an active duty or reserve U.S. Marine
            Be a veteran who received an honorable discharge or was killed while serving
            Student must:  Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, Not have a family adjusted gross income exceed $91,000, Plan to attend an accredited college to pursue a bachelor’s degree or technical certificate
Deadline to submit applications is 3/1 prior to the academic year student wishes to receive financial aid

            *Air Force Aid Society Merit Scholarship:

            $5,000 award Eligible are incoming freshmen who have “completed both phases of   General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant application” Applicants are based on these criteria:
GPA, High school transcripts,Response to an assigned essay topic, SAT/ACT scores, Resume, Volunteer work, Extracurricular activities

            *Fisher House Foundation Scholarships for Military Children:

One $2,000 scholarship awarded per location.
           
Deadline for applications is 1/22
            Money can be used to cover: Lab materials, Administrative fees, Textbooks, Tuition

            *Navy League of the United States:

Award amount varies depending on scholarship, anywhere from $2,500 to $20,000 Children or grandchildren of current or former members of the sea services are eligible
Deadline for applications is 3/1

 

 

--Foundation for Rural Service: (Deadline:  March 1, 2019)

2019 FRS Scholarships

All graduating seniors are eligible with a "C" average.  Applicants must also have a genuine interest in returning to a rural community after completing their post-secondary education.  Applications can be found at:

--Golden Apple Scholarship Program Deadline:  (March 1, 2019)

Available to current high school seniors in Illinois who have a goal of working in high need areas in Illinois as educators.  Student must have a 2.5 GPA in high school and meet the ACT/SAT requirements. Link:  https://www.goldenapple.org/eligibility-high-school-students

 

 

--Cancer Survivors Fund (Active 2/4/19 for Fall semester 2019):

--GFWC Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs Scholarships: Postmarked by 2/15/19

2019 GFWC Illinois Native American Scholarship ($750)

Offered to a Native American student who is pursuing a degree at an Illinois college, university, or trade school and who will be enrolled in classes starting Fall ‘19.

2019 GFWC Illinois Cultural Exchange Scholarship ($500)

For individuals who will participate in an international cultural exchange/study abroad program through an Illinois high school or university

2019 Vocational Scholarship Application (1 for boys, 1 for girls $1,000 each)

Must attend an Illinois college, technical or trade school fall of 2019. For those interested in the skilled trades rather than students pursuing professional careers.
