Below is a list of the current scholarships that I am aware of and that are currently live. More will be available as the year progresses. Stop by my office if you have questions.  Remember, scholarships are free money- you should not have to pay to apply. Each little bit helps: Apply, Apply, Apply!

 

Scholarships available to Illinois students:

 

--National Wild Turkey Federation’s (NWTF): Dr. James Earl Kennamer Academic Scholarship Program (Deadline: 1/1/2020)

3.0 GPA minimum, students must support the preservation of the hunting tradition & actively participate *hunting license is required*, must be NWTF member, must be involved in school activities, be a leader, be involved in the community. Employees and board members of the NWTF & family members are not eligible to participate.

--Quad City Regional Auto Show Scholarships (Deadline: 1/2/2020)

For Trade School Students & College Bound Students.. Variety of scholarships and criteria. One eligibility quiz will determine which scholarships you can apply for.

--Ron Brown Scholarship (Deadline: 1/9/2020)

The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.

--Illinois State Historical Society’s Verna Ross Orndorff Scholarship (Deadline:1/15/2020)

1,500 word essay on the subject of Abraham Lincoln or the Civil War era in Illinois required. 1,000 scholarship granted and paper will be published in an issue of Illinois Heritage Magazine.  *See Miss Nelson for application

 

--FFA Scholarships (Deadline: 1/15/2020)

Through the National FFA Foundation, businesses and individuals support scholarships that are awarded to students with a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals. Scholarships support non-FFA and FFA high school seniors and collegiate members .

-- John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest (Deadline: 1/17/2020)

Opportunities to win $100-$10,000. Must write an 700-1,000 word essay.

--Elks National Foundation Scholarships: (Deadline: 1/31/2020)

Legacy Awards- must be a child/grandchild of an Elks member

Emergency Educational Grants: Emergency Educational Grants provide undergraduate college financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks in the form of renewable, one-year grants of up to $5,000. 

 

--Trinity Health Foundation Scholarships (Deadline: 1/31/2020)

You must register as a user and log into the application system to apply and view specific requirements for each scholarship. There are tutorials on the registration page for your convenience. Please start your application early so required documents and third party verification can be completed before submission deadlines. --Henderson County Republican Women’s Club and Central Committee Scholarship (Deadline: Jan/Feb 2020)

--Mellinger Education Foundation Grant (Available 2/1-5/1)

Applicants eligible to apply for a Mellinger Scholarship must be an undergraduate student and live in one of the following counties: Warren, Henderson, Knox, Mercer, Fulton or McDonough. Apply online at: http://www.mellinger.org/index.php/application-tab  Or see Miss Nelson

--IAA Foundation Scholarship Program: (Deadline: 2/1/2020)

The IAA Foundation endeavors to enhance the future of agriculture by providing college scholarships to Illinois Farm Families, Illinois Farm Bureau members, spouses, or their children who major in agriculture, agribusiness, or an ag-related course of study.

--Raritan State Bank Essay Writing Contest (Deadline: 2/21/2020 to *Raritan State Bank*)

Applicants write a one page essay. Multiple opportunities to win $1,000 or $500.

--College Board Opportunity Scholarships: FAFSA (Deadline: February 2020)

With the College Board Opportunity Scholarships, students who fill out the FAFSA® will earn a chance at a $1,000 scholarship. Join the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program at:  https://opportunity.collegeboard.org/

  1. Go to My Action Plan and select the Complete scholarship card.

  2. If you have submitted the FAFSA® or a state aid form, or are ineligible to complete both the FAFSA® or a state aid form, select the “Confirm your qualification” button in the FAFSA scholarship card.

Once you have confirmed your submission of the FAFSA on the My Action Plan page, you will be entered into the scholarship drawing. Easy!

--College Board Opportunity Scholarships: Apply to Colleges (Deadline: February 2020)

Students who apply to two or more colleges will earn a chance at a $1,000 scholarship.

  2. Go to My Action Plan and select the Apply to Colleges scholarship card.

  3. List at least two colleges that you've applied to

--Quad Cities Community Foundation Scholarships (Deadline: 2/15/2020)

--Great River Friends High School Scholarship (Deadline: 2/15/2020)
Applicants must: Be seniors in high school, Have a minimum 3.0 GPA, Live in or attend schools in Great River Health System’ service area (about a 60-miles radius of West Burlington) & pursuing a health-care career. *See Miss Nelson for application*

 

--Worldclass Mediacom ($1,000) (Deadline: 2/15/2020)

Children of directors, officers, employees or agents of Mediacom are not eligible. Applicants must be legal residents of a community that is being served by Mediacom (Oquawka & Stronghurst). Scholarship awardees may attend any accredited two-year or four-year college, university, technical or vocational school within the United States. Applicants must intend to pursue a course of study at a qualified post-secondary institution. Applicants must be accepted by the qualified post-secondary institution prior to actually receiving a scholarship. Applicants must commence their post-secondary education or training in the first academic year following their senior year of high school. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school, must be high school graduates or persons who have achieved equivalent certification. If an applicant is awarded a scholarship while in his or her senior year of high school and does not graduate at the end of his or her senior year, he or she is no longer eligible to receive a scholarship. Students completing high school in fewer than the normal four years are eligible to apply. All scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, political affiliation or social or economic status. Scholarships are not renewable. --GFWC Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs Scholarships: Postmarked by 2/15/2020

Vocational Scholarship (1 for boys, 1 for girls $1,000 each)

Must attend an Illinois college, technical or trade school fall of 2020. For those interested in the skilled trades rather than students pursuing professional careers.

Arthur Grant Smith Drama Scholarship ($1,000)

Drama theater background

Vina A. Miller Memorial Scholarship- Education ($1,000)

Preference for those going into education/teaching

Lorado Taft Art Scholarship ($1,000)

Color photos or digital copies of three original art works and a description of each, must attend IL school

Hamilton Ridge Music Scholarship ($1,000)

.(Instrumental or vocal) Include a performance disc or thumb drive with three audition selections not to exceed a total of 15 minutes. Audition selections should be solo performances.  Detail musical background such as private lessons, competitions, performances, etc.

 --Fred S. Bailey Scholarship (Deadline: 2/16/2020)

Must be attending University of Illinois. The Bailey Undergraduate awards are $3000 awards ($1500/semester) given each year to undergraduate students at the University of Illinois who have demonstrated positive impact and commitment as a result of service, community involvement, leadership, and action.

--Warren/Henderson Farm Bureau (Deadline: 2/2020)

Various Scholarships

Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship - The objective of the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau® Foundation scholarship program is to provide financial assistance through scholarships to our members or their dependents who are entering or attending college and majoring in Agriculture or Agribusiness. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of exceptional scholastic ability and/or financial need and are to be used for tuition and/or books. Funds will be sent directly to the school that the student is attending. Applicant must be eligible/accepted for enrollment or be enrolled at an accredited college, university or community college that offers agricultural courses. --Illinois Chemical Education Foundation ($2,000) (Deadline: 2/21/2020)

Open to all future chemists, chemical engineers or environmental engineers

--Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebeka Scholarship Award- Independent Order of Odd Fellows 

(Deadline: 2/21/2020- to allow mailing time for receive by deadline)

Applicants do not have to be affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, but must be a resident of Illinois, and a citizen of the United States. Available to deserving students wishing to continue their education in any post-secondary school or an accredited vocational/technical school.
